Golden Concert Choir Information
Golden Concert ChoirThe Golden Concert Choir was originally formed as the Golden Chamber Choir in October 2000. When the adult choir became too large to remain a chamber choir, the name was officially changed to Golden Concert Choir, to more accurately reflect the choir size and type of pieces being performed.

The current choir size is around 50-70 singers. Members are partly from Golden and partly from the greater metro area.

The Artistic Director and Conductor is David Bell. Accompanist is Anne Kingham.

Singer Information

Who May Sing:
We accept singers as young as 7th grade.  There is open enrollment for all vocal parts at the start of each season during which newcomers are welcome to join the choir.  If you would like to join us for our next season, please e-mail our Membership Organizer, Judy Denison at judy_d@prodigy.net.

Auditions:  While there are no formal auditions for the Golden Concert Choir, members do need to be able to match pitch to the piano. At the start of each season, there are 30 minutes prior to each of the first two practices available for members to arrive, register, meet the director, match pitch and be assigned to a section.

Rehearsal Location: Click HERE for a map of rehearsal location, Applewood Valley United Methodist Church, at 2035 Ellis Street, Golden. For further information, please contact Judy Denison at 303-279-5177 or judy_d@prodigy.net.

What to expect: First rehearsal, please come 30 minutes early for registration, to meet the conductor and match pitch to the piano (no auditions). Singers are responsible for learning their parts; there will be occasional “sectionals” outside of regular hours to help with learning notes, for those who can attend.

What to wear:

Regular rehearsals and "dress" rehearsals:
Please dress comfortably. We especially recommend comfortable shoes. While we get the opportunity to sit most of the rehearsal time, we will be standing as well.

For the Concert:
Women wear all black concert attire. Please wear floor length dresses, skirts or pants and conservative long-sleeved black tops. Shoes also need to be black with black stockings.
Men wear black suits. Please wear a white dress shirt (no ruffles) with a black bow-tie and black socks and shoes.

Please visit our Volunteers page for more information on ways that you can assist us. Volunteering is not a requirement for membership but is encouraged.

If you enjoy singing but aren't able to pay dues, we can make arrangements with you. Please contact the Treasurer, Linda Driggers, at lindaref@hotmail.com for more information.

Singer Information

Confluence Policies:

Attendance Policy: Singers are expected to be on time and miss no more than 25% of rehearsals for a season. If a singer misses more rehearsals, or is not prepared for rehearsal, he or she needs to address attendance and preparedness level with the director and the group. It is expected that all singers will come to rehearsal prepared with notes learned. Recordings of rehearsal will be made available for singers to study. Note learning time will be available for singers to come and work on notes outside of regular rehearsal time at the discretion and availability of the director. The director will provide anticipated rehearsal plans ahead of time.

Auditions: Confluence will have auditions every spring and in the fall as necessary to fill vacant positions. All current singers will be expected to re-audition each spring. Current membership is not a guarantee for future membership.

Rehearsals: The rehearsal schedule (day, dates, times) for each season is determined by members of the group in advance of the season, currently Sunday evenings. Regular, weekly rehearsals last two hours. Before performances, a dress rehearsal of similar length will be scheduled in advance. Additional rehearsals may be required but will be scheduled as far in advance as possible, and every effort will be made to prepare during the regularly scheduled rehearsals.

Rehearsal Location:  St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 9200 West 10th Avenue, Lakewood, CO  80215

What to bring:  Assigned music; please be note ready as much as possible

Vocal Training

Group Lessons

Why take group voice lessons?

Singing is a natural extension of our being. When we sing, we physically, mentally and spiritually improve the way we feel, think and act. We also share ourselves with the world around us, which in turn connects us to other humans as a community. In group lessons, this connection with others is nurtured at the same time we improve our skills.

We offer these types of group lessons:

  • Fundamentals of Music
  • Basic Vocal Production
  • Choral Reading Sessions
  • Musical Preparation and Ensemble
  • Vocal Technique through Repertoire

For more information or to book a class, please contact Allison Olsson at 303-279-2932 or visit our Contact Us page.

Classes are held at:
The Olsson Studio
659 Partridge Circle, Golden, CO
303-279-2932

Individual Lessons

Why train my individual voice?

Haven't we all been at a party, in choir, at church or other event where singing is going on and we wish that we could join in with confidence? With individual training, you can! It is a joy to participate in the world around us with song.

What about you "performers" out there? Do you like to stand up and sing your best? If so, individual training can take your current skill set and make it even better! What a great sense of accomplishment we have when we succeed in making an audience appreciate the song that comes from within because it is so beautiful to hear.

We offer individual training for both adults and children.

If you'd like to discuss personal growth opportunities with any of our instructors, you may contact them directly or if you'd like a recommendation based on your skill level and needs, please contact our Membership Organizer, Judy Denison at 303-279-5177 or judy_d@prodigy.net.

Children's Choir of Golden Information
Note:  The Children's Choir of Golden is suspended for the 2009-2010 season.

The Children's Choir of Golden was formed by the Golden Community Choirs in 2002 with the intention of offering the highest quality choral music. Our goal is to enrich the lives of children by making music accessible, and by guiding them to success in challenging endeavors, individually and as part of a group.

Various styles of music are introduced in a setting that enables children to have fun and try new things; while achieving a high level of personal readiness, responsibility and autonomy in a group setting.

Children in first through sixth grades are invited to participate in the Children's Choir of Golden, which requires no auditions.

  • It’s a weekly group activity with a highly trained and experienced director.
  • It’s weekly small group training before or after practice.
  • It’s economical (the cost per weekly session is reasonable).

Children's Training Choir Information
Note:  The Children's Training Choir is suspended for the 2009-2010 season.

The Children's Training Choir was created to educate, support and encourage children of ages four to seven in the musical arts. Allison Olsson designed a curriculum that teaches music and motion, pitch matching, rhythm, listening and other music skills in an atmosphere of fun and playing games.

This environment prepares these children for other choral and musical experiences as they grow. As the children gain experience, they will be eligible to graduate to the Children's Choir of Golden.

You can visit our Contact Us page to request further information.

Singer Information

The Children's Training Choir is designed to familiarize your child with music, rhythm and movement to prepare him or her to be part of a musical group as he or she gets older. The Children's Training Choir participates in some events with the Children's Choir of Golden.
